MedThreads is operated by USMLE Buddy AI, the data controller responsible for your personal data. This notice explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

What we collect and why

• Account details (name, email, password stored securely) — to create and run your account (contract).
• Usage information (sign-in times, days you used MedThreads) — to understand how many students use it and improve it (legitimate interests).
• Personal concepts and notes you add — to provide the AI drafting feature and show them on your map (contract).
• Technical data (IP address, browser/device information) — for security and fraud prevention (legitimate interests).
• Support messages — to answer you (legitimate interests).

Your study progress (concepts opened, mastery, streaks) is stored only on your device.

Who we share it with

• Service providers who host the app, store data, and run AI and voice features on our behalf;
• Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, for selling the product, subscription management, payments, tax compliance and invoicing;
• Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where needed;
• Authorities where required by law.

We never sell your personal data.

International transfers

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

Retention

We keep account data while your account is active and delete or anonymise it when no longer needed, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections and access controls that keep each student's data private to them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may access, correct, delete, restrict, or export your data, object to processing, and withdraw consent. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. We respond within one month.

Cookies and storage

We use only essential browser storage to keep you signed in and save your progress on your device. We do not use advertising cookies.
